 Mercy’s Charleston, WV Senior Portraits

by WV Senior Portrait Photographer, Lauren Love

I have *so* been missing the cooler weather – I love summer, don’t get me wrong, but I really really love fall. This WV senior portrait session took place last year, and is still one of my favorite sessions to date. Mercy was scheduled for a sunrise session right in the heart of Charleston, WV. We had a great location planned out – a hill that overlooks the city… and we got there just in time for the sunrise, or so my phone told me. There was no sun. I started shooting, but 15 minutes went by and there was still no sun. At this point I realized it was just going to remain overcast. I was so embarrassed that I had this girl get up at 5 am to shoot a sunrise session only for it to be anticlimactic! But you know what I realized as I kept shooting? How absolutely beautiful her outfit went with the natural colors of the land around her and not only that, but the beautiful glittery bokeh created by all the lights that were still on downtown that wouldn’t have been there had it been sunny. & that is why this session remains one of my favorites. It’s so unique in nature and would be way too hard to recreate.

Another thing I love about this is that Mercy also decided to do some spring senior portraits that you’ll see on down in the post. These are just a few of my very favorites from both sessions. Hope you enjoy =)
